“The iCardiogram system serves severalpurposes for IHC and our Dominican HEARTS program in the Dominican Republic (DR).

1. The encoder allows patients' recorded echos to be stored on-line, centralizing the record keeping for four USA based heart surgery teams and two Dominican based heart surgery centers.

2. Allows cardiologists from around the world to access and discuss a child's surgical case. Two years ago, the four USA based heart surgery teams serving Cedimat Hospital did not communicate about their patients. Even though most patients were being followed by all four teams throughout the year. This system allows us (all US and DR teams) to share patient information , record procedures and recommendations, and Appropriately planing ahead for future surgical missions. Instead of learning what patients needs are one day before surgery begins. We can now schedule patients for surgery months ahead.

3. IHC hopes to apply this technology to our other specialties including urology surgery. Urology teams who travel to our program countries to perform surgery will bring their portable ultrasound machine, connect to the encoder and record realtime images.“
